The story takes place about five years after the attacks of Sephiroth and Meteor.

It has been five years since Sephiroth and Meteor wrought havoc over The Planet, obliterating the city of Midgar into nothing but smoldering ruins. Through the loss of family, friend, and home, the few survivors considered themselves all but lucky as they pulled together to try to rebuild something, anything that they could call their home.
Edge, aptly named for its place along the outskirts of what was left of Midgar was built over a span of two years. Businesses, schools, families all tried to get back to their lives despite the damage that had been done. They were determined to survive, and that's what they did. ShinRa had been decimated, so they had learned to draw energy from an alternate source other than Mako.
Disaster struck again as it seemed The Planet itself was attacking those who lived on it, a Geostigma as they called it afflicting people all around the world. From the remnants of Jenova being within the Lifestream, the body would painfully try to purge the origins from the hosts body. There was no cure and as time went on, many grew doubtful that they would be able to live through it.
But thanks to three, Sephiroth returned once more, planning to use that Geostigma to get into the Planet and use it as a vessel to travel through space to a more worthy one. Again, he was repelled by the Hero, and with his death a mysterious healing rain washed over the citizens and cured them of their Geostigma.
The threat had been thwarted, but would it be forever?
The World Regenesis Organization has seemed to take things over around Edge, assisting with relief and offering military aid when needed. The Turks, all but forgotten after the destruction of ShinRa Headquarters, resume their duties with the WRO. Things were seeming to get back to normal until...
Women of all ages have been disappearing around the world only to turn up three days later charred, burned from the insides out. With no clear way to link the victims, a panic has fallen over The Planet. People fear to leave their homes and once again the rumored appearance of men in black cloaks have the citizens wondering if Sephiroth has returned.
The kidnappings have come timed well though with the WRO's rise to power, and with them being funded by Rufus Shinra himself, many are wondering if it hadn't been them their selves to put out the rumor as they resume their old dastardly ways. Whatever it be, there is a new threat on the horizon.
There is a battle coming and the lines will be blurred. Where will you stand when the dust clears? Do you believe in WRO's innocence and will you strive to clear their name for good? Or will you join AVALANCE and investigate these yourself in hopes of outing the Organization for what they really are?
--------
Recent developments:
-Sephiroth has come back
-War seems on the horizon for the WRO and Wutai
-The leader of the Turks is missing
-Jenova has been reborn
