Orpheus - The Historian
There was an Etherial Elf that I used to instruct. Though he separated himself from others to spend time alone, he was one of the most generous and caring souls that I had the honor of knowing. He was constantly searching for true beauty, the subtle things that many took for granted. He was an artist in that way. ~She pauses, her crystalline eyes sparkling as she remembers~ He came to me after one day and he told me he wanted to make the others appreciate the light of day.
~She points to the night sky above them, a hint of pride on her lips~ I bestowed on him the power he needed and with it he created nighttime to contrast and complement the day, for he believed that the sudden absense of light could only make the heart grow fonder of the perpetual days we lived in then. But looking at it, the vast emptiness, he realized that it too could be just as beautiful of the day. He took his own sight, and created the moon whose own luminescence remained as a hopeful reminder of the dawn to come.
But there was still something missing, and he knew he could not just leave the moon alone in the obsidian void. So he reached within his mind and grabbed a blank spark from his memory recesses and placed it next to the moon. ~she points to a rather bright silver start next to the full moon~ Coupled with the light of the moon, that spark wrote remembered the history of the world and wrote it in the sky as a constant reminder of what had been... something mortals could never alter. He became an inspiration for the others after that. With loss of sight, he still continued to search, create, obsessed with beauty.
Though blind as it left him, he never sought beauty with his eyes, but his soul, a trait that aided him well when he no longer could see. He could sense beauty, and with the aid of his senses he was able to recreate it in his works of art.
He is the only one with power like his to not actually be written in the stars, because he -is- each and every individual star. That being said, he is the reason we have the constellations.
His name was Orpheus... and he was one of the first to fall to the attacks of the mortals. He never lay a finger on them though, and merely defended those around him until they could escape. He is with the stars now... able to perfect his work first hand.
